Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021

Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2021 comes into force from 1 September 2021 and replaces KCSIE 2020.

Following a consultation, the Government has made these proposals to Keeping Children Safe in Education which are due to come into force in September 2021:

  • Additional detail on child sexual exploitation and child criminal exploitation
  • Strengthened awareness of peer on peer abuse including online
  • Strengthening how to report concerns
  • Importance of raising “any concerns” about a child with the DSL or a deputy
  • All safeguarding concerns should be appropriately recorded and child protection files maintained
  • Mental health section revised with additional support and resources
  • Allegations of abuse made against staff- further information on dealing with low level concerns
