Millie’s Mark launches new and improved website
Millie’s Mark, the gold standard for paediatric first aid in early years settings, has a brand-new, upgraded website. This exciting development has tightened data security, introduced automated functions and become more accessible for users.
Due to the increasing number of cyber-attacks in the UK, the update further improved the site’s overall security, to give providers who have signed up greater piece of mind.
Millie’s Mark was developed in partnership between the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) and first aid charity Millie’s Trust. Since its launch in 2016, more than 1,300 nurseries have achieved Millie’s Mark accreditation, with a renewal rate of around 80%, giving parents peace of mind that their children are as safe as possible in nursery.
Dan and Joanne Thompson from Millie’s Trust, parents of Millie, said:

“Being Millie’s parents, we are extremely proud to have brought Millie’s Mark alive together with Millie’s Trust and NDNA. We are extremely proud to work with NDNA to continue to help keep children safe in childcare establishments and we look forward to awarding more Millie’s Marks in the future.”
Tim McLachlan, Chief Executive of NDNA, added:
“We’re thrilled to see Millie’s Mark continuing to grow and evolve with this new website. It’s a vital part of our ongoing partnership with Millie’s Trust and a testament to the dedication of early years providers who put children’s safety at the heart of everything they do.
“Thank you to our current users for bearing with us through the platform switch. This upgrade will help nurseries to engage with Millie’s Mark and for parents to find accredited settings.”
Case study
Staff at Little Pioneers nursery in Maidenhead dealt with a choking incident in their nursery recently. Due to their knowledge and experience, the child went on to make a full recovery.

Helen Cartwright, Nursery Manager and Designated Safeguarding Officer said: “At Little Pioneers, we are proud to hold Millie’s Mark, recognising the vital role that high-quality Paediatric First Aid training plays in saving children’s lives.
“Our in-house training team partners with WorkSafe Training Systems to deliver regular, full, and relevant Paediatric First Aid sessions across our entire network of nurseries. By ensuring every colleague is fully trained, we can be confident that every child in our care is safe, and that all of our colleagues are equipped to respond effectively to any First Aid situation.
“While all colleagues complete comprehensive Paediatric First Aid training every three years, we also keep these essential skills alive through our regular supervision process — checking, refreshing, and evaluating knowledge to maintain confidence and competence.
“Our dedicated colleagues also deliver our Mini Medics programme with our Pre-School children, introducing them to vital life-saving skills such as how to call for help, reduce the risk of choking, and perform the recovery position.
“In addition, our in-house training team provides regular bite-sized refresher sessions for colleagues who wish to strengthen their knowledge and remain confident in delivering effective Paediatric First Aid.
“At Little Pioneers, we are committed to embedding a culture of safety, confidence, and preparedness — ensuring that every colleague, and even our youngest children, understand the importance of First Aid.”
NDNA and Millie’s Trust are excited to unveil the improved site and continue supporting nurseries in achieving this important accreditation.
