As you may be aware, the commencement of the Named Person and Child’s Plan provisions in Parts 4 and 5 of the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 is scheduled for 31 August 2016.
A judicial review has been brought against the Named Person and the information sharing provisions of the Act, with a judgement by the Supreme Court due. With only two weeks until the Supreme Court breaks for the summer, Deputy First Minister, John Swinney, has decided it would not be prudent to implement Parts 4 and 5 of the Act until any legal challenge has been clarified.
None of this affects the accuracy or relevance of the materials in the Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC) information pack for practitioners which is available online at the GIRFEC website – hard copies are also in the process of being distributed.
