New shadow education ministers in place
Labour has appointed a new Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Shadow Early Years Minister for their Shadow Cabinet.
Bridget Phillipson, (pictured left) MP for Houghton and Sunderland, was appointed as the new Shadow Secretary of State for Education following in the footsteps of Kate Green.
Over the weekend, former Shadow Childcare Minister Tulip Siddiq was moved to a role in the Shadow Treasury and was replaced by Helen Hayes, (pictured right) MP for Dulwich and Norwood.
NDNA will be writing to both these new appointees to highlight the challenges faced by providers and emphasise the importance and value of high quality early education for children’s outcomes.

The new Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Shadow Early Years Minister will have a lot to focus on and we would like to welcome both Bridget Phillipson and Helen Hayes to these important roles.
“At NDNA, we want to see all children flourish through excellent early years education and care and we look forward to working with the new team on this agenda.
“We wish Tulip Siddiq well in her new role, she has been a strong advocate for all children and providers in the early years sector.”
