Early years professional institute now free to support the sector
National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) which powers the Institute of Early Years Education will make access to the platform, resources and CPD tracker free to the early years workforce.
The main aim of the Institute is to raise the status of the workforce and professionalise the sector.
The Institute was launched last August by NDNA and offers a range of resources including activities, a CPD tracker and access to a health and wellbeing offer. We already have 15,000 members on myNDNA some of whom are already accessing the benefits of the Institute.
NDNA is acting to address the pressures the sector is under with increased costs. The charity’s Board of Trustees agreed to make the Institute free to the whole early years sector so its benefits can be felt more widely.
From May 2025, those working in the sector will be able to access the Institute of Early Years Education in the following ways:
- Universal open access to the Institute platform including research-backed content including e-learning and other resources – FREE
- Access to the CPD functionality and tracker – FREE via a log in
Tim McLachlan, Chief Executive of NDNA said: “As the UK-wide charity supporting the early years sector, we at NDNA are acting to address the multiple pressures that providers and professionals currently face. We want to enable and support the sector in any practical way possible, based on our membership values. We are dedicated to the aims of the Institute as a recognised professional body for the early education and care workforce, focusing on best practice and the well-being of the profession. It’s vital that this can be used by all those who need it.
“NDNA wants to support the early years workforce and so we have made the Institute of Early Years Education free to all educators irrespective of which sector they come from. This includes all research-backed content and the CPD function, which is a tool that enables practitioners to reflect on what they have implemented as a result of training and the impact this has had for children within their settings. Practitioners are able to also record the CPD they have undertaken in the CPD tracker and share a report with their employer.
“We hope this will engage the early years workforce to enable them to raise their profile and the professionalism that they deserve.”
