Wellbeing support announced for early years workforce

The new Institute of Early Years Education has joined forces with Spectrum.Life, a whole-of-health digital partner, to offer a healthy lifestyles package to anyone working in the early education and care sector who takes up membership.

The healthy lifestyles member benefit is intended to give professionals working in the early education and care sector support with their work-life balance. This includes access to GP services, nutritional and health advice as well as a “digital gym”, and discounts with major retailers.

The Institute is powered by National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) who have signed the partnership agreement with Spectrum.Life, which currently provides services to more than 7.2 million insurance members, 3,000 corporate clients and 650,000 university students globally.

Purnima Tanuku OBE

Purnima Tanuku OBE, Chief Executive of National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA), said: “When we were developing the membership package for the Institute of Early Years Education, we spoke to lots of people working on the frontline about what support they wanted to see. One of the number one issues was around easily accessible support for their own wellbeing.

“Working with very young children, supporting them with their learning and development can be hugely rewarding but it can also take its toll on health and wellbeing. From day one we want to be able to help the wonderful people who work in this great sector to flourish and look after themselves as well as the children.

“We are really excited with the offer we have developed with Spectrum.Life and are sure it will be a key benefit for any early education and care professional who joins up when the platform launches later in the summer.”

The offer includes exclusive digital GP services for any medical issues that members may experience. Alongside this, members can enjoy discounts and rewards from companies like Apple, Samsung, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and M&S.

Spectrum.Life gives members a wellbeing digital platform which includes hours of wellbeing content to improve fitness, nutrition and boost mental health. It includes digital fitness programmes, self-guided meditation, nutrition guides and recipes and wellbeing podcasts.

Stephen Costello

Stephen Costello, Co-Founder and CEO of Spectrum.Life said: “We are excited to partner with the Institute of Early Years Education through the National Day Nurseries Association.

“Our vision is to save and change as many lives as possible through accessible health and wellbeing resources. This collaboration brings our cutting-edge wellbeing platform to early years educators, a crucial step in our commitment to support those shaping young minds. By offering tailored wellbeing resources, we aim to help educators maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle, enriching their professional and personal lives.

“Together, we are setting a new standard for health and wellbeing for the dedicated individuals who play a pivotal role in the development of our youngest generations.”

Alongside the healthy lifestyles offer, Institute members will have access to a carefully curated library of evidence-based member resources, a professional development e-portfolio for CPD, career pathway resources and a forum to share best practice.

The Institute will be launched in August.
