State of the sector update

 

Tim McLachlan will give an update on the state of the sector.

More about Tim:

Tim’s career as a leader in the voluntary sector spans over 25 years developing national charities in allergy, education and social care.

Prior to joining NDNA Tim led the Institute of Food Science and Technology, the internationally respected independent membership body, supporting food professionals through knowledge sharing and professional recognition. That followed leading the rapid growth of the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation from start-up to national high-profile charity including the UK-wide implementation of Natasha’s Law and defining and funding a pioneering clinical trial to enable food allergy oral immunotherapy to be available on the NHS.

Prior to that, Tim was National Director of Services for Alzheimer’s Society across the UK. Tim holds an MBA from the University of Liverpool, their first student to do so focussing on the voluntary sector.

Inspection insights: What to expect

 

Representatives from both the Care Inspectorate and HMIE will join us to share updates on the Quality improvement framework for the early learning and childcare sectors and what this means for inspections. You will hear about current inspection priorities and gain insights into what to expect during inspections. 

More about Tricia

Tricia currently works as one of His Majesty’s Inspectors of Education (HMIE). She is based in the early learning and childcare (ELC) team. Tricia led on the work to develop ‘A quality improvement framework for the early learning and childcare sectors’ with colleagues in the Care Inspectorate.   

Tricia’s career in ELC spans over 40 years and she has been in her current post for over eight years. In her role as HMIE, Tricia has the privilege of visiting settings across Scotland to evaluate the quality of education within the ELC sector.  

In her spare time Tricia has a focus on her family, holidays and walking with her Newfoundland dog Maddie.  

More about Kelly

Kelly is currently an ELC Inspection Team Manager at the Care Inspectorate. She has been part of the team supporting the development and implementation of the Quality improvement framework for the early learning and childcare sector. Kelly has also contributed to various working groups responsible for creating many of the Care Inspectorate’s ELC practice notes, including some within the Keeping Children Safe practice notes.  

Kelly has worked in the ELC sector for over 20 years and has had the privilege of working across a wide range of ELC settings, including school age childcare and ELC daycare provisions, spanning both the private and public sectors.
