Session details
In Nick’s session, he will be talking about how to get the most out of sharing books with very young children, whether you’re a parent or practitioner. He will explore ways he’s used his own books on nursery visits to create a truly interactive reading experience and suggesting some related activities that are easy and fun to encourage your child’s creativity and inspire their imagination. Nick will give delegates some simple but practical drawing tips that you can use to help your little ones with their own picture-making!
Biography
Children's Author and illustrator Nick Sharratt has created illustrations for over two hundred and fifty books for all ages from babies to teens. As well as producing around sixty of his own titles he’s worked with numerous writers including Julia Donaldson, Michael Rosen, Giles Andreae and Kes Gray, alongside a thirty year collaboration with Dame Jacqueline Wilson. His picture books include Ketchup on Your Cornflakes? the Shark in the Park series and the multi-million-selling You Choose titles. He has won many book prizes including the Children’s Book Award, the BookTrust Storytime Award and the Bookbug Picture Book Prize. He has been the official illustrator for World Book Day and Writer-Illustrator in Residence for BookTrust. In a career spanning more than three decades, Nick has visited a huge number of schools and nurseries around the country. And he’s the proud owner of a gold Blue Peter badge!
