
Healthy Ice-cream
As the third Sunday in July is National Ice Cream Day, why not make your own healthy ice-cream for children to enjoy as a summer treat. You can choose your own ingredients to make a range of flavours to suit children’s taste buds.

Resources you will need
Ingredients for ice cream mixture
- 6 large, ripe bananas
- Strawberries or frozen berries
- 300g of fat-free Greek-style yoghurt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract or 1 tsp of honey
- Food processor
- Access to a freezer
- Bowls/cones.
Healthy Ice-cream activity guide
- Chop the bananas and strawberries into chunks and pop them into individual Ziplock bags and place in the freezer for 2-4 hours, until frozen
- Remove the frozen fruit from the freezer into the food processor, along with the natural yoghurt and vanilla extract or honey
- Blend until smooth and scoop into a bowl or tub. Refreeze if required
- Scoop the ice-cream into bowls or into ice-cream cones (optional)
