This factsheet explores the Prevent Duty and provides information on what an early years provider should be doing if they have concerns about any individual or family.
The Prevent Duty will be included in early years inspections from September 2015 and is therefore integral to the running of your setting.
The Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015 came into effect earlier this year. One of its provisions was to place a duty on certain specified authorities and organisations to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. This duty is known as the ‘Prevent Duty’ and came into force on 1 July 2015.
Please note that these are templates that you should adapt according to the needs of your setting. All information is correct at the date of publishing. Settings have the responsibility to ensure they are up to date with legislation in between each published update of the templates (usually January and July each year).
