Supporting Children with SEND training for nurseries

Improve early education experiences and outcomes for children with SEND with NDNA’s Supporting Children with SEND training for nurseries.

Supporting Children with SEND training for nurseries

Duration: A full day course

Who should attend:  England-based practitioners, room leaders and managers

What will I learn?

It is not the role of early years practitioners to diagnose children and label their difficulties. However, it is important practitioners gather evidence of what they notice, patterns of behaviour and the strategies that support these difficulties. It is crucial for children with SEND that their needs are identified as early as possible. Giving them the support they require from the earliest stages will help them achieve their full potential.

This course will develop knowledge of early years practitioners supporting children with SEND. It will identify helpful strategies that support children with SEND and how these can be implemented to improve your practice.

Most if all, this course will give practitioners increased confidence and skills to improve outcomes for children with SEND and their families.

Course key topics

  • Identify what SEND is and which children are included in this category
  • More of the common diagnoses for children with SEND
  • Behaviour that challenges
  • Self-esteem and empowerment
  • The Graduated response for SEND
  • Supportive strategies
  • How to support parents and families?
  • Supporting transitions within and outside of the setting
