NDNA sends joint letter to Chancellor ahead of Budget
NDNA has joined other organisations, parent bodies and unions, including Pacey, UNISON, Pregnant then Screwed and others in writing a joint letter to the Chancellor Rishi Sunak ahead of today’s Budget announcement.
The letter, which was featured in an article in The Mirror, calls on the Chancellor to guarantee funding for measures to tackle child poverty and invest in childcare and early years services, including:
- Addressing the funding shortfall, ensuring that providers are adequately funded for entitlements to cover the whole cost of delivering childcare and early education
- Expanding childcare provision
- Tackling child poverty by changing the Universal Credit system, removing the benefit cap and two-child limit and removing the requirement for upfront payments
- Improving the current system of shared parental leave to encourage more fathers to take leave.
