Philip Siddell has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to the Early Years, to Childcare and to the Charitable Sector.

Commenting on Philip Siddell’s honour, NDNA Chief Executive Purnima Tanuku CBE said, “We are delighted to see Philip receive an award for everything he has done both to support his local community and promote children’s early education. He has been instrumental, as an NDNA trustee, in driving our aims of seeing all children thrive through access to high quality early education and care.

“Philip is committed to excellence in early years and getting the best for children, not just in his own nurseries but wherever they take up early education and care places. He volunteers as the chair of NDNA’s local network, sharing best practice and supporting other early years settings. This honour rightly recognises all the work he has done for children in his nurseries, across Staffordshire but also in the wider UK and is thoroughly well deserved.”

Also recognised is Janet Macgregor, owner and Senior Manager of Smithfield House Children’s Nursery, City of London who has been awarded a BEM for services to the Early Years.  Janet has worked in the early years sector for more than 30 years.

Janet told Nursery Management Today magazine: “I work very hard at what I do to provide the best possible learning environment and outcomes for the children in my care. I am very humbled to have been awarded a BEM, I feel I am just doing my job, so the recognition is wonderful.”
