examples of private, voluntary and independent case studies
Quality childcare lies at the heart of improving outcomes for children. The principle features in the Childcare Act 2006 and in the roll out of the government’s Sure Start Children’s Centres programmes. It is even more important, as local authorities and providers prepare for changes to the free entitlement, and the challenges facing businesses in the current economic down turn, with greater emphasis placed on sustainability. Most significantly, it is important to children and families who want access to quality and flexible early years care and education.
For these reasons, National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) as part of their strategic contract with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has chosen to promote the following ten case studies. These offer to private, voluntary and independent providers examples of innovative, creative and flexible models of childcare, with quality provision at the heart of their business. They range from provision in Walsall in the West Midlands, to Hove in Sussex.
